The project is led by seafarer and explorer Mike Horn, who travels the world espousing the virtues of the environment and sustainability.

For this particular project Mike built a boat, the Pangaea, to use as a platform for which young adults can explore the natural world.

The boat was built in an environmentally friendly way. Built of aluminium, which recycles at only 5% of the energy required to produce it, and low emission engines, the boat also boasts solar panels on the roof, an electrolyser, hydrogen storage and a fuel cell.

Most recently the Pangaea docked in Sydney harbour to spread its message.

“We are extremely proud to support and to be part of this great project and challenge,” says Albert Baehny, chief executive officer of Geberit.

“During this expedition Geberit will assist and finance specific projects in response to humanitarian disaster regarding the lack of access to proper sanitation systems and to clean drinking water in many countries.”

Geberit has become involved for three reasons.
1. Trust in Mike Horn and his vision and experience.
2. Their commitment to water and sanitation. In this case Geberit has committed to renovate the sanitation of schools, hospitals and other social units along the Pangaea route.
3. Education of local people to use fresh water effectively and information on how to install proper sanitation systems.
